Minnesota Backdown – Heads Remain on the Chopping Block

In the wake of the murder of Alex Pretti, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is facing increased and intensifying pressure from Congress – including (brace yourself) top GOP members. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said “She’s proven that she doesn’t know how to lead.” And he’s not alone among Republicans in calling for Noem to resign. HuffPo: “Top House Democrats said if Noem doesn’t go, they’ll start building the case for her eventual impeachment, though they’d need Republican support.” Well, it seems House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries has already mapped out a path to Noem’s impeachment, and Raw Story has the details and the video.

Noem certainly didn’t help herself by trying to throw her bosses under the bus: “is chalking up her actions in office to the direction of President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller.” Alternet reports another issue hobbling Noem: “Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is holding up more than $1 billion in ‘hazard mitigation funds.’”

The knives are also out for Trump’s top advisor, Stephen Miller: “Miller, the architect of Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policy, finds himself in the rare position of being contradicted and excluded from crucial decisions by the US president.” More at Guardian.
