FBI deputy director Dan Bongino took a day off from work Friday after clashing at the White House with Attorney General Pam Bondi over their handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, four sources familiar with the conflict told Axios. … The dispute erupted Wednesday amid the fallout of the administration walking back its claims about Epstein by determining the convicted sex offender didn’t have a celebrity “client list,” and that he wasn’t murdered in his New York City prison cell in 2019.
• Bongino didn’t come to work Friday, leading some insiders to believe he had quit. But administration officials say he’s still on the job, even as the internal tension over the Epstein case continues.
• A source close to Bongino, though, said “he ain’t coming back.”…
During the meeting, Bongino was confronted about a NewsNation article that said he and Patel wanted more information released about Epstein earlier, but were held back. Bongino denied leaking that idea.
MAGA world is melting down too…
with many saying that they feel like they’ve been sold a bill of goods.
Rob Coates, a conservative podcast host, wants President Donald Trump to get involved.
“Pam Bondi this…. Dan Bongino that… Nah bro.. Donald Trump is where the buck stops. He promised the American people the Epstein files and now it’s a ‘waste of time.’ We were lied to,” wrote Coates.
Meanwhile, MAGA influencers like Ben Shapiro and Laura Loomer are continuing to beat the drum demanding accountability.
“She is an embarrassment to Donald Trump and his administration and we need to protect Trump from people who want to DRAG HIM DOWN,” wrote Loomer.
Todd Blanche – remember him? – also weighed in over on Xwitter:
I worked closely with @FBIDirectorKash and @FBIDDBongino on the joint FBI and DOJ memo regarding the Epstein Files. All of us signed off on the contents of the memo and the conclusions stated in the memo. The suggestion by anyone that there was any daylight between the FBI and DOJ leadership on this memo’s composition and release is patently false.
And the fallout is spreading…
While this was going on within the Trump administration, MAGA youth organization Turning Point USA was holding its Student Action Summit in Florida, which featured Bannon recording his War Room podcast from the lobby.
Throughout the MAGA meltdown over the Epstein fiasco, the former Trump adviser has tried to thread a very fine needle due to his own personal connections with Epstein, which has featured former “first buddy” Elon Musk – who has long feuded with Bannon – claiming “Bannon is in the Epstein files.” The world’s richest man, who has called the Epstein memo the “final straw” regarding his support for Trump, did not elaborate on how he knew this was the case.
Bannon has since reacted by calling for a special prosecutor to review “all” Epstein documents while urging Bondi to step aside. At the same time, much like the majority of MAGA media, he has largely steered clear of directly laying the blame at Trump’s feet. That was put to the test, however, on Friday morning.
